Adults:
For adults, Sunday school takes place most weeks from 9:30-10:25 in the Fireside Lounge (in the Education Building). The group focuses primarily on scripture study, focusing on one book of the Bible at a time. The current focus is on the book of Job, using the Yale Bible Study program. “More than any other book in the Old Testament,” they write, “the book of Job is recognized as a classic of world literature. The image of the righteous Job sitting on a dunghill and scratching himself with a potsherd has seemed to many to be an apt characterization of the human condition.” If you wrestle with the problem of pain and suffering, the book of Job will be a helpful, if challenging, companion.
On the first Sunday of each month, the class participates in a prayer practice called Visio Divina, which uses pieces of art to help us connect more closely with the Holy Spirit.
If you would like to participate in the Adult Sunday School class online via the church’s video link, please email minister@eurekachristian.org for more information.
Children and Youth:
This summer, we are pleased to offer “Discovery Day Camp” June 26-29 for children and youth ages 4 through just-completed 8th grade. This fun week of VBS-style learning activities, crafts, and singing will focus on caring for God’s good earth. Many thanks to Doug and Amy Wuethrich for hosting this program at their farm in Carlock.
Each day begins at 9:00 a.m. Our preschool attendees will go home before lunch at 11:30 a.m. Elementary and middle school participants will stay for lunch and then head off for a different field trip destination each day. Their program ends at 3:00 p.m. each afternoon.
Cost is $15 per child, with a $40 family maximum. Friends and extended family are welcome. Please register by June 21.
