Adults:
For adults, Sunday school takes place most weeks from 9:30-10:25 in the Fireside Lounge (in the Education Building). The group focuses primarily on scripture study, focusing on one book of the Bible at a time. The current focus is on the book of Exodus, using the Yale Bible Study program:
“From the magisterial six-day creation through Adam and Eve, the flood, the sacrifice of Isaac, and the Joseph story, Genesis contains many of the most well-known and beloved passages in the whole Bible. These are texts that have grounded beliefs and shaped faith communities for over two millennia.
Where do these stories come from? How do they relate to similar traditions from Israel’s neighboring cultures, and how have they grown over time until reaching the form we now have them in? How have our modern interpretations obscured what the texts might have originally meant? This study provides new perspectives for appreciating some of the most famous biblical stories.”
On the first Sunday of each month, the class participates in a prayer practice called Visio Divina, which uses pieces of art to help us connect more closely with the Holy Spirit.
If you would like to participate in the Adult Sunday School class online via the church’s video link, please email minister@eurekachristian.org for more information.
Children and Youth:
Children and Youth Sunday School will return in the fall.
All children and youth ages 4 through just-completed 8th grade are invited to participate in “Discovery Day Camp” this summer. This fun week of learning activities, outings, and crafts will take place June 3-6 at the Wuethrich Farm (2010 US Highway 150, Carlock). Our focus this year is “All Creatures Great and Small.”
Each day begins at 9:00 a.m. at the farm. Pre-K children will go home before lunch at 11:00 a.m. Older children and youth will stay for lunch and then head off on a different field trip each day. Their program ends at 3:00 p.m. Cost is $15 per child, with a $40 family maximum. Register by May 20.
