Adults:
For adults, Sunday school takes place most weeks from 9:30-10:25 in the Fireside Lounge (in the Education Building). On Festival Sundays when we have a combined 10:00 a.m. worship service, the class begins at 9:00 a.m.
The adult Bible study class is currently studying the Book of Hebrews, using the guide from the Yale School of Divinity. This resource combines a brief online lecture (ten or fifteen minutes), two or three pages of background material, and discussion questions for each of eight lessons. The authors of the study guide offer the following comments about Hebrews:
“Hebrews contains a rich message regarding the significance of Jesus’ life and death. The style of this writing is not familiar to twenty-first century readers, so some study and discernment is required to ‘mine the gold.’ This study aims to help the learner reflect on each of the letter’s distinctive claims, to understand the context in which they were originally presented, and to reflect on the application of their understanding to a Christian life today.”
