Sunrise
We all wrestle with shadows.
They hang onto us, weighing us down, keeping us from being who we are truly meant to be in God’s radiance. On this day, Ash Wednesday, we are asked to face our shadows. But this is no dreary, self-flagellation exercise. We are asked to face our shadows, to name them–not to dwell more deeply in them but rather so that they might begin to lose their power over us. So let us fall to our knees today in prayer, name our shadows, call them out into the light.
And then let us rise to face the dawning of a New Day.
