How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is given!
From O Little Town of Bethlehem
By Eva D.
How like God to place his “Wondrous Gift” to humankind, silently, in a stable manger; away from the din of a public inn and earth’s vulgar eyes, gazed upon by the meek and the wordless beasts.
Here, in the being of an infant, lies God’s wondrous gift, the long awaited Messiah Jesus—divine love, freely given.
So it is that God enters and abides in each of our hearts fully and freely.
This Advent season of 2011, let us quiet ourselves, open ourselves, and in thanks and gratitude, receive God’s “wondrous gift.”
Prayer: Loving God, may we learn to love and live. Amen.
